Welcome!

Posted by Double Eagle in Welcome

Hi, and welcome to Life in the Rough. I’m Mike, aka “Double Eagle”. This is my quest to transform myself from weekend duffer to professional golfer. Check out the About Me page to read more about exactly what I’m trying to accomplish. Go ahead, I’ll wait…

As you saw, I’m on a quest to become a golf pro. This blog is where I’ll be keeping track of my progress. My intention is to provide content that is useful to people, as opposed to a log of what I had for breakfast and other useless detail about my daily life. For quite a while I’ve been in an intense golf learning process. That’s going to continue indefinitely. While I’m not a professional yet, I feel like I’ve learned a lot that I can share with others.

My plan is to use this blog to share my progress but to also share tips, book reviews, product reviews, drills, course reviews, and other things I’ve learned about the game that may help you. We’ll discuss rules and I’ll share my opinions on swing technique, course management, and everything else I can think of. My own game is like a laboratory where I’m constantly trying out what I learn in hopes that it can help me reach my goal. I hope that others can benefit from the learning process that I’m in. I also hope that the communication becomes two-way. Feel free to post comments or e-mail me. I also plan on rolling out a forum soon.

What you will not find here is much content related to being a golf fan. While I’m a huge fan of professional golf, there are already tons of blogs that cover the various tours and players. I might discuss technical aspects of tournaments or players, but I don’t plan on covering golf from a fan’s point of view. The purpose is to track my own progress and provide other information that might be helpful in your own quest to improve your golf game.

I’m going to try my best to publish articles several times a week, if not daily, but I’m going to avoid posting boring details of my life or random thoughts just for the sake of filling space. I’d rather the content be released at slower intervals than to water it down with useless blather. Please feel free to suggest topics and shoot me questions by e-mail, and absolutely positively feel free to point out mistakes and inaccuracies in anything I post. By all means, lay out any philosophical differences so we can discuss them. I hope you can learn from what I’ve learned, but I hope I can learn from you as well.

Kick up your feet and stay a while.

-D.E.
