Keeping Practice Rounds Interesting

Posted by Double Eagle in Practice Tips - 5 Comments

I saw an episode of Playing Lessons from the Pros featuring Bruce Fleisher on The Golf Channel recently, and he talked about a fun thing he does during practice rounds to make it interesting and competitive.

What he does is, on an approach shot, he’ll intentionally miss a green to a certain spot. This allows him to put himself in different random up and down situations, even when he’s playing well. If he’s playing well and not missing too [...]

The Rules of Golf

Posted by Double Eagle in Rules - 2 Comments

You may have wondered: where do the Rules of Golf come from? Who has the authority to shape the game of golf?

There are two primary organizations that are charged with maintaining the Rules of Golf: The United States Golf Association (USGA) and The Royal & Ancient Golf Club (R&A), St. Andrews, Scotland. The Fairway Bunker Shot

Posted by Double Eagle in Sand Play Tips - 1 Comment

Beach week continues…

This time we’re going to back away from the greens and try and figure out what to do when those pesky fairway bunkers jump up and swallow your drives.

The technique for hitting out of fairway bunkers is quite different than the technique used in green side bunkers. Luckily, the adjustments are not very difficult.

From green side bunkers, the object is really to splash the ball out on a cushion of sand. The club never actually makes [...]
