Progress Update - October 28, 2007

Posted by Double Eagle in My Progress

This Week

I’m at the tail end of my surgery recovery period, so I haven’t accomplished anything for two full weeks. The good news is that I’m released for activity as of tomorrow.

I’ll continue with my weekly weigh-in later today, but I expect a slight rebound from last week. The reason for that is that I dropped about 10 pounds in a week right after surgery and my first official weigh in was right at the low point of that.

After a week, I started eating regularly again, though I’m on a very good track. However, with no activity, I expect a little rebound and really should be judging myself against my pre-surgery weight two weeks ago, rather than where I was last week.

Overall

I feel like I’m on a good track with my diet, and I’m certainly well rested now. I had some nagging soreness in a few areas that’s gone now after two weeks of rest. I’m ready to resume the charge and get where I need to be, before the weather locks me down for the season.

Tweaks

The only tweaks based on this week involve ramping back up after surgery and will be temporary.

I’m fully released for physical activity after today, but I’m still feel some soreness in my abdomen. It’s getting better every day but nonetheless, I’m not going to take any chances with it. My first workouts will focus mainly on cardio and gentle stretches.

I’ll also be trying to hit a few golf balls this week some time to see how that feels. If it’s an issue, then I’ll stick with chipping and putting for a week, until I’m satisfied that all is well.

Also, the days are getting a lot shorter. I’m pretty much out of luck with respect to getting in any golf or driving range time during the week. I really need to focus on using that time for workouts and get in as much practice time as I can on the weekends.

You sound like you’ve got a handle on it, but REALLY listen to your body so as not to overdo it and set yourself back anymore.

Definitely, Mike. I’m tired of setbacks and am taking a conservative approach. With such a long journey, there’s nothing to be gained by sprinting.

I’m also happy to report that after my weigh-in, I avoided the rebound and am down about a pound from last week.
