More Golf Gift Ideas - All Under $50
Posted by Double Eagle in Uncategorized
Some of you may have seen my letter to Santa earlier this week. I thought that was going to go directly to him, but apparently, in ended up on the internet thing and everyone saw it. I thought there was some kind of magic involved or something, but whatever.
Anyway, some of my previous suggested golf gift ideas for Christmas were pretty extravagant, so I wanted to do a separate list. This time, all the items are $50 and under.
Santa can check in if he wants. I’m not writing him another letter.
Here are eight more golf gift ideas for Christmas, all $50 and under.
- I’m big on the mental game, but understand that some golfers don’t like to read golf books. No problem! Pick up the Dr. Bob Rotella CD collection. It’s an audio collection of his books: Golf is a Game of Confidence, Golf is Not a Game of Perfect, Putting Out of Your Mind and The Golf of Your Dreams. Pop it into the CD player on the drive to work and improve your golf game while you’re stuck in traffic.
- Do you know a golfer struggling for more power? Jim McLean’s X-Factor II DVD might be the answer. It’s an updated version of his revolutionary teaching concept that seeks to increase more power not by increasing hip or shoulder turn, but by increasing the ratio of shoulder turn as compared to hip turn.
- Fixing ball marks on the green is a big must. Why not give a nice divot tool as a gift? Many courses carry divot tools with magnetic ball marks attached that contain the course logo. Some can also double as money clips. You can even get ones with a player’s favorite professional sports team on it. Or, for the golfer that’s always dreamed of playing at a place like Pebble Beach, you can buy one from there online.
- A custom driver head cover makes a fun gift. Most have seen Tiger Woods’ tiger head cover (or “Frank” if you recall the series of commercials). Animals are popular, as are professional sports teams. A wide variety can be found at most larger golf shops and many places online, including Golfsmith, where there is a good selection.
- I believe that fitness is important in golf, especially flexibility. I wouldn’t be doing my best if I didn’t recommend some fitness items. Golf fitness expert Mike Pedersen has a DVD called Golf Stretching for Optimal Performance. In it, you’ll find exercises that will get you on your way to a tension-free, full swing in a compact seven minute routine.
- I mentioned several essential books in my letter to Santa, but being a big reader, there are so many more I’d recommend. For one, I enjoyed How I Play Golf, by Tiger Woods. I’m a huge fan, and this comprehensive look at how he approaches the game was a lot of fun. Another must-have book by one of the great players of all time is Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf. In it, Hogan provides his unique insight into the golf swing, that he came upon the hard way: digging it out of the dirt.
- Probably the most practical gift to give a golfer? What else? Golf Balls! We spend over four hours hitting them in the water, blasting trees, blowing them into the woods, and losing them in plain sight. They need to be replaced. A dozen balls are just what the doctor ordered. One word of warning: golf balls are a highly personal so find out if your gift recipient has a favorite brand and model. If not and you need a suggestion, then my favorite right now is the Nike One Platinum.
- A nice gift, especially for the office, is a golf calendar. I have my USGA calendar hanging up at work. When the going gets tough, looking at those beautiful golf courses takes me away for a few moments and puts me in a better frame of mind.
These eight items should be good to get you started shopping for the golfers on your shopping list. There are tons of options, but in a pinch, you can never go wrong with golf balls. Happy Holidays!
