Progress Update - November 11, 2007

Posted by Double Eagle in My Progress - 3 Comments

This Week

Definitely another good week.

The big triumph was finding a way to start waking up early again. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long, long time.

Since golf is my primary objective, I need to maximize my ability to play and practice while fitting it all in with my full time job.

Typically, I get home fairly late because I have a 45 minute commute. Before, I’d get up, stumble out of bed into the shower and get [...]

Book Review: An Idiot for All Seasons

Posted by Double Eagle in Book Reviews - 0 Comments

Any time I let my imagination wander into thoughts of a dream foursome, David Feherty is always, and I mean always, one of the winners (that is if playing a round with me would be considered “winning”).

His humorous take on golf and life always gives me a smile.

His 4th book, An Idiot for All Seasons is a collection of some of his best columns from Golf Magazine. Included are many of his Sidespin columns, featured monthly on the last [...]

Wedge Gaps Part Deux

Posted by Double Eagle in Equipment, Mental Game - 3 Comments

In July, I wrote a post concerning my move to four wedges to create better yardage gaps from within scoring range (100 yards).

You might recall that I dropped my 4-iron and got a few new wedges, replacing my existing pitching wedge in the process. You may further recall that replacing the pitching wedge from my Callaway X-16 set with a Cleveland 588 left me with 3 additional degrees of loft on my pitching wedge.

Posted by Double Eagle in Golf Philosophy - 4 Comments

Long putters have been around for several years. You might have heard of them referred to as “belly putters”. That only really describes some of them.

For those unaware, I’m talking about putters that are significantly longer than what we’d think of as a standard putter.

The basic idea is that a player holds the end of the putter to their belly, chest, or chin. What that does is produce a more consistent pendulum stroke, removing some of the [...]

Progress Update - November 4, 2007

This Week

What a good week. Finally!

I got back in the gym again after so long. Three good workouts.

I started slowly for the first workout because I didn’t know what kind of post surgical issues I was going to get. I found that some things were a little painful in the area where my guts were hacked up, but nothing extreme.

I was fine for cardio and most of the stretches that I tried. The first day back, [...]

  • The Buried Lie: A Sandy Grave
  • Well, it’s not really that bad. But, I thought I should cover buried lies if I’m going to stick with the beach week theme.

The good news is, the changes you need to make to play a buried lie are small and pretty simple. The bad news is, the more the ball is buried, the less you should be concerned with getting up and down and the more you should be concerned with just getting on the green.

    If you [...]
