Progress Update – December 2, 2007

Posted by Double Eagle in My Progress

This Week

Not a bad week at all.

I got in three workouts, but I got sort of lazy in the first half of the week and had to cram them in on Thursday, Saturday, and today. My preferred scenario is to space them out more evenly, and to try to get four sessions in.

My back is feeling somewhat better, but not great. I’ve been incorporating my rehab exercises into my normal workout routine, but I haven’t gotten them all in yet. I’m waiting to see how that progresses and will adjust accordingly.

On the weight loss front, I’m down about half a pound. That’s not a big win in my book, but it’s a step in the right direction.

I remembered to bring my putter inside this week so I could get some work in on my putting stroke.

That worked out pretty well. I leaned it up against the wall in plain sight so when I happen to walk by, I just pick it up and putt for a few minutes here and there.

I put some impact tape on the face to measure my consistency. I feel like I’m making a more consistent stroke now than I have been on the course. That seems kind of odd to me. Maybe a mental issue? Time will tell.

Tweaks

There’s not a whole lot I’m going to change at this point, except for some minor diet tweaks. I had a big loss a few weeks ago followed by a big gain that put me almost back to where I was before the big loss. I’m suspecting a scale malfunction. Either way, I’m still on a downward trend, but not as much as I want to be. So I’ll cut down a bit with the diet and see what happens.

  • There are two main schools of thought about ball position for full swings. The first is that ball position is around the middle of the stance for a wedge and moves slightly toward the left foot (for a right-hander) for each longer club, through the driver where the ball position would be somewhere near the left heel. The stance also widens slightly for each longer club.

The second is a relatively stationary ball position near the left heel but [...]
