Progress Update - December 16, 2007
Posted by Double Eagle in My Progress
You may have noticed that I skipped the progress update last Sunday. I’m going to do these in two week increments during the winter because there’s just not much to talk about. There’s very little golf-related stuff I can do. When the season starts back up, I’ll go back to weekly updates.
I feel like the last two weeks haven’t been good for me. I’m in a bit of a funk that I’m trying to get out of. It’s really tough to keep up the persistence during the winter. Harder than I thought it would be.
With respect to diet, I haven’t done terribly, but I feel like I could have done a lot better. The scale has been on the fritz, in need of a battery (not a run of the mill type - eBay to the rescue, but still waiting…). That means I don’t have any numbers to tell me how bad I’ve been for the last two weeks.
With my workouts, I really need to do a better job. I’ve missed a few in the last couple weeks. But, the ones I’ve made have been really productive.
I’m still continuing to work on my putting stroke on the carpet. I really feel like it’s helping me to work on a more consistent stroke. There are a few putting feedback devices at Pelz Golf I’ve had my eye on, that I think I’ll look at buying when I have a chance to free up some cash.
I’ve also been studying the golf improvement system that I told you about yesterday. I’m looking forward to putting it to use.
Tweaks
I need to do a better job all around. My brain has gotten into winter hibernation mode where laziness and lack of discipline have been trying to take over. I won’t let that happen.
I’m also planning on starting with the golf improvement system that I mentioned. I can’t really do much in the way of golf, but goal setting is a big part of it. I need to start giving some real thought to my goals for the year, so I can map out a plan.
Finally, I’ve really been giving a lot of though about my swing for the coming season. I’m really thinking of trying out the Stack and Tilt this year. It’s gaining acceptance at high levels in the sport, and I’ve heard from so many people who are having great success with it.
My limited experiment last year showed me that it can improve ball striking in a very short time. I’ll make my final decision in March, but if I get any nice driving range days where the weather isn’t too cold before then, I’m going to give it a try for a full session.
