Life in the Rough Podcast, Episode 1

Posted by Double Eagle in Podcast

Yes, I went and did it.  I created a podcast for Life in the Rough.

For the inaugural edition, we’ll have a contest, talk about grooves, when Tiger is coming back, and have a look at the state of my game and how winter impacts me.

It’s kind of an experiment here, so let me know what you think.  If you have comments, criticism, or suggestions, please let me know.  Either drop it down in the comments, or feel free to send me an e-mail.

And yes, I know, the COR limit is actually 0.83.  It’s a very rewarding feeling to have factual inaccuracies in the very first podcast (though I did correct myself, at least).

Without further ado, you can download the file using this link, or you can use the little podcast player below.  Enjoy (I hope)!

You see what I mean about personality:

“If you want me to hang it up for good. I can take a hint.”

    That’s ALMOST a Yogi-ism.

Totally captivating. Again, the golf was secondary. It was the warmth, the logic, and the human connection that held my interest. As such, you can be an ambassador for the game.

As far as weather is concerned, I live in California, so we are drowning in winter golf here, and I couldn’t care less.

Life is kind of like that. Here I have every advantage if I wanted to golf and I’d much rather attend the symphony or practice my piano.

Piano in the winter is the same as piano in the summer. I am told I am rusty all year round.

    Life just isn’t fair, Mike.

Name for podcast: Tin Man Golfcast

This brings together both Judy Garland and Kevin Costner. Lots of symbolism. Of course, your yellow brick road leads to the top of the leader board at the Masters, and your tin cup is also at the Masters. And, mine is just an evening with Chopin. (Incidentally, if I win the golf balls, I hereby present them to you for that first day you play a full round in the Spring. You’ll need a few to lose as you get that rust off, and find the sweet spot on those clubs.)

Very cool you need to increase the volume slightly though you sound a little faint on my computer.

  • The Range Is Your Laboratory
  • A while back, I referenced one of my favorite golf quotes, a gem by Sam Snead. “Ya gotta dance with who ya brung.” What Sam was telling us is, keep the experiments in the laboratory, and keep your laboratory on the range (or practice green).

If you’re playing a round and making an attempt to score well, then the last thing you want to do is be experimenting with new techniques or trying to fix big problems on the [...]
